AN EXTRA DAY

In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13

What will you do with your extra day? 24-hours more in the year 2000 makes this year even more remarkable. This year is an exception to an exception because years which end in "00" usually are not leap years but 2000 is because it is divisible by 400.

Since you have an extra day maybe you will just sleep in, or go somewhere special today? Most likely you will not be able too even though you have an extra day. It seems each day has its challenges even if it is a leap day.

There are some Y2K like glitches which some have to deal with like Japanese computers reporting double-digit rainfall on a day without rain. Merchants in New Zealand had trouble verifying transactions.

Sony Corporation has advised those owners of older video cameras and word processors may experience problems. Personally I have noticed my watch has a Y2K-like glitch. It appears the date is March 1 when it should be February 29.

Where did I put those instructions? I wonder if I should contact the Senate's Y2K advisory panel before they disband and report the problem?

It seems every day has special challenges and problems even when it is an extra day. It appears that Jesus knew all about that when He said to pray, "Give us this day our daily bread." Yesterday's praying will not take care of the praying needed for today. Just as today's praying will not take care of the praying needed for tomorrow. Each day is unique with needs of its' own. Each day needs to be covered in prayer as well. On leap day why not take some extra time to thank God for an extra day.
